Farrier Services & Equine Dentistry

Paul Fields

From the age of 14 Paul had a love for equines. His summers were spent at camp where would only indulge in horse activities. He didn’t want to go hiking or swimming but simply ride as much as he could. Even during his four-year stint in the U.S. Navy, he would spend as much time as possible at the base stable where he enjoyed some down time with his horse when not on deployment.

After leaving the military, Paul worked as a Los Angeles police officer where again he found himself drawn to the department mounted unit where he was encouraged by friends to join the police and fire equestrian games. It was here that he developed a strong desire for more. After losing a shoe while competing in 1990, Paul met a local farrier who offered to teach him the craft. On his days off from law enforcement he would apprentice in this age-old tradition of farriery for the next three years.

After graduating from the Tucson School of Horse Shoeing and becoming certified, Paul would continue to shoe horses locally in California until moving to Texas in 2013 where he has established a successful farrier practice just outside of the Houston metro area. In addition to farrier services, Paul also provides equine

dentistry to his clients as well and is certified through the equine dental practitioners of Katy, Texas and has been since 2014.

Paul holds a bachelor’s degree in animal science and continues to maintain his knowledge and skill set by networking with local veterinarians and farriers as well as attending various farrier conventions and conferences annually involving continuing education.
